Much Ado About Nothing

Much Ado About Nothing

August 07(Oxford and London)

Messina, Sicily, 1958. Members of Italy’s most notorious crime family are assembling at Leonato’s estate. The wasteland of post-war Italy is making way for the seductive ‘Dolce Vita’. Life has never been so good. The women are as beautiful as the men are dangerous; image and reputation are everything, style and superficial gratification take centre stage.
But this is Sicily. The grip of honour, patriarchy, gossip and familial ties hasn’t yet loosened. Any slip-up can have very serious consequences indeed.

This summer Oxford University students will present William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing across the UK and in Japan. This annual international Shakespeare tour takes place with the support and guidance of Thelma Holt and the Cameron Mackintosh Foundation.

On the tour this year from St Anne’s is Production Manager, Isabella Anderson (PPE, 2009).

The team is performing in the Bodleian Old Quadrangle (7th-10th August) and Southwark Playhouse in London (15th-18th August) before jetting off to perform in 3 venues in Tokyo, Japan. On their return they have one more week in the Mill Studio at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford (5th-8th September).

OUDS are offering all Oxford alumni a 2 for 1 ticket deal on the Southwark Playhouse performances if they book before 15th August. All you need to do is call 020 7 407 0234 or visit www.oxforduniversitydrama.co.uk, following the links through to ticket booking, and quote the code OXALUMNI.
