ASM North East Branch Annual Lunch and AGM

The Annual Lunch and AGM for the NE Branch is to be held as usual at the Bar Convent in York on Saturday 23rd March 2013.  20-30 members and guests gather in a very convivial atmosphere to enjoy a 3-course lunch followed by a brief AGM and a guest speaker.  In 2012 we were entertained and informed by Denise Bates (Sharpe 1978) who spoke about her new book Pit Lasses: A History of Female Miners in the 19th century.  Denise's research was sparked by the discovery, while looking into her own family tree, that one of her female ancestors had been a miner.  The speaker for 2013 is yet to be announced.  Watch this space!  For more details about the lunch or the branch please contact Gillian Pickford (Atkin 1979) email: gillian(at)pickford25.karoo.co.uk.
