Week 4 is a busy time for St Anne’s musicians, with Dr John Traill (Director of Music) conducting Prof. Martyn Harry’s (Fellow in Music) Come, Spring with the Oxford Philharmonic on Thursday 2nd November at the Sheldonian Theatre. The concert celebrates the orchestra’s fifteen-year residency at Oxford University, and features the world premiere of Sturdy Adams Polin (also conducted by John Traill), Marios Papadoulous (OP Music Director) conducting the OP with Merton and Queen’s College choirs, and the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with soloist Savitri Grier (Savitri won the 2014 Oxfordshire Concert Competition, conducted by John – the competition is a partnership between the Oxford Philharmonic and the Oxford County Music Service).
On Friday, many St Anne’s music students join Dr Traill in a performance with Judith Weir, Master of the Queens Music, at the Jacqueline du Pre Building. Richard English and Lucy Evans will play in the Faculty of Music’s new music group, Ensemble ISIS, and Tegan Eldridge, Harry Baker, and Jess Edgar feature in a choral performance of Judith Weir’s Psalm.
