On Friday 24 March, St Anne’s welcomed alumnae from Singapore and across the wider region to a dinner at Raffles Hotel with alumnus and Honorary Fellow Sir Danny Alexander. Held in conjunction with the University of Oxford Alumni Weekend in Asia, the evening was hosted by College’s Acting Principal, Dr Robert Chard, and Principal-Elect, Helen King.

Sir Danny Alexander (Vice President, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and former Chief Secretary to the Treasury) was in conversation with fellow St Anne’s alumnus and Honorary Fellow, Paul Donovan (Global Chief Economist at UBS Wealth Management), discussing a range of political and economic subjects, and the positive impact their time at St Anne’s reading PPE in the early 1990s has had on their lives and careers.

Acting Principal Robert Chard said: "St Anne’s has a strong alumnae network in Singapore and we were delighted to welcome 45 alumnae and guests to our Alumnae Dinner to hear two of College’s Honorary Fellows speak about the values of a St Anne’s education and the increasing importance in today’s global world of St Anne’s openness, diversity, and promotion of opportunity for the brightest students, regardless of background or financial means.

"St Anne’s is home to one of Oxford’s largest and most diverse student bodies and currently has 12 undergraduate students from Singapore studying Law, PPE, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry, as well as 3 graduate students. Later this year we look forward to holding our first Summer School in Singapore to give local school children a unique insight into a range of Oxford subjects."
