Jim Stanfield (Chemistry, 1979)

Members of St Anne’s of all generations will be deeply saddened to know of the untimely death of Jim Stanfield, Chair of The Association of Senior Members and a member of the Committee for many years. Jim was one of the first year of men to come up to St Anne’s in 1979, where he read Chemistry. Hazel Rossotti was his Personal Tutor and they kept in close touch. Jim was a lynchpin of his year and kept close St Anne’s friendships through his life. He was the energising presence behind the London Branch of the ASM before taking on the responsibility of ASM President, which he led even when his business commitments took him to the United States for many months of the year. Jim had a wonderful gift for mingling with all generations of St Anne’s senior members and his many friends from across the years will miss him greatly. He was last in College for the 60th anniversary celebrations in May after travelling to St Anne’s reunions in New York and Washington last April. Our sympathy goes out to his wife, Caroline, and his children.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday 7th August at 11am at Our Lady Queen of Peace (222, Sheen Road, Richmond, TW10 5AN).  Please contact Kate Davy in the Development Office if you plan to attend.
