He was subsequently a graduate student both at the University of Sydney and at Trinity College, Cambridge, obtaining a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the former (2004) and a Ph.D. in Physical Crystallography from the latter (2006). In 2004, he was elected to a Junior Research Fellowship in Materials Science at Trinity – a position he held until joining the Faculty at Oxford Chemistry in 2009.
Dr Goodwin was Visiting Fellow at the Research School of Chemistry, Australian National University in 2007, and was awarded an EPSRC Career Acceleration Fellowship in 2008.
