Dr Robert Stagg

Robert's current research interests are in literary form, ranging from prosody (rhyme, metre, rhythm) to verse structures (e.g. the sonnet). He is currently editing his PhD thesis for publication as a book (provisionally titled Shakespeare's Verse) and has started work on a second project about sex, desire and the Elizabethan sonnet. He has secured research funding from the Wolfson Foundation, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, the Society for Renaissance Studies, the London Film School, Gladstone's Library, and the Arts and Humanities Research Council. He has also written, produced and presented a feature-length documentary about Shakespeare's early career in Shoreditch, and works with a number of prominent theatre companies on productions of Shakespeare or Shakespeare festivals.
