- Dr Liora Lazarus was awarded a three-year grant from the Oxford Martin School to investigate the role of human rights in addressing global challenges, together with an interdisciplinary research group
- Dr Sarah Waters was awarded the the Whitehead Prize by the London Mathematical Society in 2012
- Dr Liora Lazarus was awarded a British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship to develop her research on Juridifying Security. The fellowship will run for 12 months from October 2012 and will enable Dr Lazarus to work full time on this research
- Dr Richard Katz won the Outstanding Young Scientist Award of the Geodynamics Division of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) in 2012
- Dr Sam Thompson was shortlisted for Amazon Rising Stars in 2012
- Dr Alexander Anievas was awarded the Political Studies Association’s 2011 Lord Bryce Prize for Best Dissertation in International Relations/Comparative Studies for his PhD thesis 'Capital, States and Conflict: International Political Economy and Crisis, 1914-1945'
- Dr Richard Bomphrey (Zoology) received three grants this year to investigate insect flight, from the BBSRC, EPSRC and Dstl
- Dr Imogen Goold was awarded research grants by the Oxford-Melbourne Law School and Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) in 2010 and 2011
- Professor Georg Gottlob was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2010
- Professor David Banister was awarded the transport policy prize at the World Conference on Transport Research in Lisbon (July 2010) for ‘the most influential paper’ published between 2007 and 2009
- Dr Helen Christian (Medicine) Dr Martyn Harry (Music) and Dr John Murphy (Materials Science) received University Teaching Excellence Awards in 2010
- Dr Gareth Davies was awarded research grants by the Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt Foundation and by the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library in 2010
- Dr Andrew Goodwin received the 2010 Royal Society of Chemistry Harrison-Meldola Memorial Prize ‘for his pioneering work in materials with negative thermal expansion, and in the field of total scattering methods’
- Dr Budimir Rosic was awarded Best Paper award by the Turbomachinery Committee of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Turbo Expo 2009 for ‘Controlling Tip Leakage Flow Over a Shrouded Turbine Rotor Using an Air-Curtain’
- Francis Szele, Tutorial Fellow in Developmental Neurobiology received two grants this year to study schizophrenia, one in conjunction with the Oxford Stem Cells Institute, the other in conjunction with McGill University in Montreal
- Kate Watkins successfully in obtaining funding from the Wellcome Trust for a Project Grant entitled ‘Investigating the sensorimotor networks in speech perception and production’
