A new Student Outreach Centre will be housed in the New Library and Academic Centre, providing an open, welcoming environment in which to meet potential St Anne’s students. Its position at the front of College and at the heart of the 21st Century University will attract visitors to Oxford from the UK and all over the world.
Every year, St Anne’s welcomes visits from school groups and individuals who come to the College to find out more about studying at Oxford. We are committed to attracting students with the academic potential to flourish here, including those who might otherwise be discouraged from applying to Oxford.
The New Library and Academic Centre will provide a space to welcome potential students at the heart of the College, where they will find themselves side-by-side with current St Anne’s undergraduates and graduates working in the Library.
The Student Outreach Centre will occupy a large seminar room on the first floor of the new building, which will open out onto the grass roof of the Kitchen, where visitors can gaze out at Oxford’s historic spires and the University’s new buildings in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter.
Its location on the Woodstock Road, one of the most important routes into Oxford, will create a modern and welcoming frontage for St Anne’s College, designed to be attractive to those passing by, with floor-to-ceiling windows portraying academic study at St Anne’s to the world.
Many of our visitors comment on the distinctive character of St Anne’s – friendly, welcoming and unintimidating. The New Library and Academic Centre will set in stone these qualities, opening up St Anne’s to new generations of students.
