Ruth Deech (Jurisprudence, 1962)

Baroness Deech was awarded a First in Law at St Anne’s (1962) and returned as Fellow and Tutor in 1970. She was elected as Principal of St Anne’s in 1991. After she left St Anne’s College, Ruth Deech was appointed the first ever Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education, holding the role between 2004 and 2008. In 2005 she was created a life peer, sitting as a Crossbencher. Since 2009, Baroness Deech has chaired the Bar Standards Board.
