The construction of the Kitchen and Hall in 1959 was a defining moment for St Anne’s College. It created the Quad and enabled students and Fellows together to eat for the first time.
In 2001, a temporary Kitchen had to be built to replace the old Kitchen no longer fit for purpose. Planning permission for this (extended several times) finally runs out next year.
The Kitchen and Hall are a vital part of College life, fuelling the study and research of both students and Fellows alike. We cannot continue to feed the College community without a proper Kitchen. The Kitchen is also essential in supporting the conference business which subsidises the tradition of great teaching at St Anne’s by £1 million every year.
We urgently need to raise £3 million to build a new Kitchen and refurbish the Hall. The College is not able to fund this amount from its small endowment. We need the support of our friends and Senior Members more than ever.
Donating to St Anne’s Kitchen and Hall Appeal will help to ensure that St Anne’s has the best facilities, encouraging the brightest minds to apply and nourishing them whilst they are here.
You can help us to raise the £3 million urgently required to build our new Kitchen.
Donate £1,000 towards the Kitchen and Hall Appeal; you will help us to raise £1 million. For a one-off donation of £1,000 per name, you can join the Circle of Names around the Hall. We would like to thank all those friends and Senior Members who have already made a donation to the Circle of Names.

Kitchen Suppers – conceived by Senior Member Gillian Reynolds – have been held far and wide with great success. Anyone can hold one. Simply invite as many guests as can fit around your table and provide supper. Instead of bringing wine, flowers or chocolates, ask your guests to make a contribution to the St Anne’s Kitchen and Hall Appeal.
