We want to be able to say to any student: if you’re good enough, and you want to come to St Anne’s, everything will be done to help you succeed.
The financial reality:
- All undergraduates now pay £3,000 a year of ‘top-up’ tuition fees to pay for their course.
- Students do not pay this fee up-front, or during their course. Instead they take out a government loan, which is paid direct to the University, and is re-paid by our students once they have left College, and are earning over £15,000.
- Students do, however, have to meet their living costs (eg, accommodation and meals) during their time at College.
Supporting our students:
- It costs a student at least £5,700 a year to live in Oxford.
- St Anne’s, together with the rest of the University, is offering bursaries worth up to £13,000 (over four years) to those students most in need to ensure that no student is deterred from taking up a place at Oxford owing to financial circumstances.
- Thanks to these bursaries, those students most in need should be able to meet their entire basic living costs during term-time.
- The University will underwrite each bursary to ensure equality of treatment across the Colleges.
Household Income
- Bursaries are provided for students with residual household incomes of around £38,330 or under.
- £0-£17,910: £4,095 bursary in first year, then £3,070 each year;
- £17,911-£38,330: £3,990-£100 in first year, between £2,970 and £100 pa thereafter on a sliding scale according to income.
How your gift can help:
- St Anne’s has the highest number of undergraduates on means-tested bursaries of any college in Oxford. They are here on academic merit alone, but, thanks to our many benefactors, they have been given the financial security to come.
- In the last year, 95 undergraduates received financial assistance totalling £129,320. In addition, 21 post-graduate students were awarded scholarships totalling £40,210.
- We are inviting you to make a regular gift to support these bursaries, to ensure that any young person who earns a place at St Anne’s can afford to study here.
