Accommodation

St Anne’s is situated slightly north of the city centre – perhaps five minutes by bicycle – and just by the University Parks. Our main quadrangle is large and open, and the perimeter of College is made up of smaller-scale gardens.

We can offer accommodation to almost all those undergraduates who wish to live in College property, and provide some financial assistance to the handful of second-year students who rent outside.

In the last decade we have built three new buildings, the last and largest of which – the Ruth Deech Building – was completed in 2005, and have renovated many of our older ones. As a result, St Anne’s can accommodate almost all of its undergraduates in on-site rooms. Experience reveals that there are always about ten undergraduates who wish to live out in private accommodation in their second year. Thus, our aim is to accommodate all undergraduates who wish to be accommodated on-site for the duration of their time at St Anne’s.

The study bedrooms are single occupancy, and vary from characterful Victorian to bright contemporary. Almost half our rooms (44%) have en-suite bathrooms, and several were specially constructed for disabled access.

Meals

Students have the use of small kitchens on their staircases, but for serious meals most use the main dining hall, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as brunch at weekends, which is extremely popular.

We encourage communal dining, as it plays an important part in collegiate life. Most meals are self-service and informal, but several times during term there is a formal dinner in hall when our undergraduates and guests can dress to impress.

In 2008 College opened STACS (St Anne’s Coffee Shop), open from 9.30am to 6.30pm during term time, and serving excellent coffee (in various permutations), muffins, sandwiches, paninis and the like in comfortable surroundings.

Payment for meals is done using your University card (there is no need to carry cash for food in College) and food is both excellent (our chefs have won prizes) and very reasonable.
