St Anne’s congratulates all students eligible to graduate, whether you have completed your undergraduate degree, or a post-graduate Masters or doctorate.

Our degree days are more than simply a formal ceremony at which your degree is awarded; it is the Collegiate University’s time-honoured way of recognising our students’ individual and collective achievements.

  • You can find the dates of forthcoming ceremonies, general information and an application form available by CLICKING HERE
  • Degrees can be conferred without attendance at a ceremony. The application form is available by CLICKING HERE.

If you have any questions at all about your degree ceremony, please contact Richard Davis  in the Academic Office.

Degree Ceremonies from July 2013

The scheduling of degree ceremonies will change from July 2013 to enable students to graduate as soon as possible after completing their course. Undergraduate and postgraduate taught students who complete their course and receive their examination results after June 2013 will be assigned a date for their degree ceremony at the start of Michaelmas term of their final year. For example, if your course finishes in June, July or September 2013, you will be assigned a date in October 2012 for your degree ceremony in 2013 or 2014. Research students who are granted leave to supplicate after June 2013 will be offered dates for their degree ceremony once they have been granted leave to supplicate.

Further information can be found on the University's Degree Ceremonies website.

Master of Arts (MA)

Graduates who have been admitted to the degrees of Bachelors of Arts and Bachelors of Fine Art can convert their degree to an MA in, or at any time after, the twenty-first term from their Matriculation (ie, seven years after you started studying at Oxford).

Those admitted to the degrees of MEng, MChem, M.Phys, MMath, MESc, or MBiochem do not convert it to an MA (or take an MA in addition), but from their twenty-first term from Matriculation they are automatically entitled to wear an MA gown.

Degree Certificates

For information from the University about replacement of lost certificates and about requesting a proof of award letter for presenting to third parties (such as employers), please see the Oxford University website.

In absentia

Degrees may be taken 'in absence' at any ceremony (ie without attending a ceremony). For the application form see above.
