Other Facilities in College

St Anne’s has much to offer its students in terms of facilities, from somewhere to relax with a pint, to regular showings of unusual films. Do make the most of what’s available. Read on for further information…

  • Laundry – in 48/50 Woodstock Road. We have 7 washers and 7 dryers, at a cost of £1.20 per machine.
  • Gym – in 48/50 Woodstock Road; this is for the use of all students, but anyone intending to use it needs to contact the JCR Sports Rep for an induction.
  • College Bar – in 39/41 Banbury Road, open 7–11.00pm daily; equipped with pool tables, darts, games and quiz machines, a plasma screen tv and a jukebox.
  • St Anne's Coffee Shop (STACS) – open daily 9.30am–6.30pm during term time for various drinks and snacks, all at extremely competitive prices. The coffee shop consists of two rooms, one with stools and tables, the other with comfortable seating and a tv. Both rooms have WiFi; take-away food and drinks are also available.
  • An erg room – 6 Bevington Road (Ground Floor) for use by College rowers (the key is available at the Lodge).
  • Computer Room – Trenaman (Ground Floor), open 24/7. All machines are equipped with CD/DVD rewriters. Laser printers and scanners are also available.
  • JCR Common Room – in Hartland House (has a pool table, TV and comfortable seating.
  • Student Meeting Room – Trenaman (Ground Floor).
  • Recycling facilities on site and an environment rep on the JCR Committee to help with green issues.
    Bicycle racks within the College grounds (by the Wolfson and Rayne buildings).
  • Use of the St John’s playing field (off the Woodstock Road, a five-minute bike ride away), which has three hard tennis courts (and three grass courts for use in Trinity term), as well as pitches for football, rugby and hockey.
  • Four practice rooms for musicians (both those reading Music, and other enthusiasts). All are equipped with pianos. See the Music section for further information.
  • A boat house (shared with St Hugh’s and Wadham), equipped with boats for our rowing Eights.
  • A College darkroom in 58/60 Woodstock Road for photography enthusiasts.
  • An Art Gallery (the Mary Ogilvie Art Gallery) where students get involved in an annual student art exhibition, as well as being able to view work by professional contemporary artists.
  • Two excellent lecture theatres, one of which is regularly used for music recitals and film showings. Members of College can attend most of these events for free, and are encouraged to look out for notices informing them about what’s on.
