Welfare Provision & Advisers

A complete and up-to-date list of College Welfare and Advisory staff is available for you to download here. You may find it helpful to print and keep this list for your reference. Contact information for key Welfare officers is also available below. The College Welfare Code of Practice is also available here.

Peer Supporters

St Anne’s has a Peer Support Team made up of students who have been trained by the University Counselling Service to provide a non-judgemental, confidential, informal listening service to their peers at St Anne’s. They attend regular welfare events, are available for chats when needed and hold a weekly informal drop-in hour. They are all approachable and friendly and do their best to help. Their names and contact numbers are advertised around College.

College Nurse

  • Mrs Lynn Cross

Her surgery is in 27 Banbury Road (Tel. 74855). For further information, including consultation times, please refer to the medical noticeboard in Hartland House.

College Doctors

Dr Judy Bogdanor, Dr Laurence Leaver and Dr Mark O'Shea have a practice in Walton Street at the Jericho Health Centre – Tel. 01865 311234. (It is at the far end of Observatory Street, which opens onto the Woodstock Road almost directly opposite the St Anne's lodge.)

All students must register with a doctor in Oxford. For those wishing to use the College Doctors there is a registration session on Thursday of 0th Week in Michaelmas Term; otherwise the College nurse can make the necessary arrangements.

Counsellor

  • Ms Mimi Kester

Students wishing to arrange an appointment with the counsellor during term time can leave a message in her box in the Lodge or telephone 01865 292883. Outside of term you should contact the University Counselling Service, who are at 11 Wellington Square (Tel. 01865 270300, or email reception(at)counserv.ox.ac.uk).

Disability

The Student Disability Adviser, Ms Zoe Sparrowhawk (zoe.sparrowhawk(at)st-annes.ox.ac.uk, Tel: 01865 284685) is available to speak to for advice on the practical support available to students with disabilities.

Working closely, in confidence, with the Senior Tutor, College Secretary, Tutors, Medical Professionals and the University Disability Office, the Student Disability Adviser is available to speak to at any stage of your studies, so please do not hesitate to contact her if you have concerns or queries. For students who have declared a disability you will be invited to a meeting with the Disability Adviser and your personal Tutor or the College Nurse who will discuss your individual requirements and complete a Student Support Document with you. This meeting will usually take place in 1st or 2nd week of Michaelmas term.

If you have a disability and you have not yet declared this (using the DS08 form), it is very important that you do so as soon as possible so that the necessary adjustments can be made. If special examination requirements are needed, permission must be sought from the Proctors Office, via the College Secretary well in advance of the exams, therefore we strongly encourage students to declare disability at the start of term so that these arrangements can be put in place. If a student chooses not to inform the College of any requirements related to disability and a matter arises during studies or examinations which we cannot make reasonable adjustments for straight away, then you may have to intermit from your studies, while these arrangements are put in place. If you are in any doubt please speak in confidence to the Student Disability Adviser.
