Undergraduates have as their social base the recently refurbished Hartland Room within the very heart of the College, with other facilities close at hand.
Meals are provided in the College Hall during term time. The JCR organizes various social events, including special dinners, 'bops' (discos) and the occasional ball, as well as music nights.
Music is strongly supported within St Anne's. There is a music bursary scheme, open to both music and non-music students and intended to help pay for instrumental lessons. Music students at St Anne’s have the advantage of an excellent collection of books and scores in the College Library (open 24 hours a day), as well as the use of a dedicated suite of four practice rooms, which can be booked and used until 10pm. One of these is used as an ensemble room and houses a new Yamaha grand piano.
The St Anne’s College Recital Series has grown from strength to strength in recent years under the direction of Dr John Traill and Dr Martyn Harry. Recitals take place weekly during term time in the Mary Ogilivie Lecture Theatre, which also has its own grand piano. These showcase young professional musicians, as well as some of our own students, who are encouraged to participate in these and make the most of the opportunity to perform in public.
St Anne’s students are also able to join the college orchestra (run jointly with St John’s) and the college choir, as well as making the most of the rich musical life of Oxford as a whole.
Just to give you a feel for how rich life at St Anne's can be in terms of extracurricular activities, here is the list of events in College that was circulated one week in May 2010.

For the seriously sporty and masochistic, the College nurtures a number of teams and eights, and we have many blues and half-blues amongst the student body.
To cover an extensive range of sports, Oxford colleges club together to share amenities such as playing fields. St Anne's shares pitches for rugby, hockey, soccer, cricket, and so on, with St John's.
And about ten years ago we joined with St Hugh's and Wadham to build and equip a boathouse on the Isis.
Athletic facilities are available at the University's sports ground, about 10 minutes away by bicycle.
But there is an increasing range of sporting events for those after sheer fun. Ever more popular for working-out are the multigym and aerobics sessions in College, but a tremendous asset is our proximity to the acres of University Parks. Many students take the opportunity to jog, play frisbee, or kick a ball about for a few minutes during the day.
Although the collegiate system weaves academic and social lives together, we would not want you to bind or strangle yourself in the College fabric.
We have always encouraged our students to look and mix beyond the College walls by taking active and leading roles in University societies, choirs, orchestras, and so on, where there is an opportunity to meet like-minded enthusiasts from other colleges.
