St Anne’s has a reputation for combining academic excellence with openness and friendliness, and that is an ideal we aim for in our philosophy teaching.
There is often a small group of philosophy graduates who can share ideas and discuss work with one another. Many of our previous graduates have worked in philosophical ethics, but a wide range of interests is represented. As graduate advisers or supervisors, we try to get to know our students right from the start, and to be in close contact with them even when not actually teaching them, through casual conversation around College, email, and so on. Several societies in College offer the chance to hear visiting speakers, including the Classics Society and the PPE Society. There are also many University societies, special lectures, and so on. The College library is perhaps the best collegiate philosophy library in Oxford, and graduates are welcome to suggest books for purchase.
Please see the links below for details of the postgraduate courses available in Philosophy and for information about how to apply.
St Anne's offers a number of scholarships, bursaries and awards for postgraduate students. Please see our pages on Financial Matters for details.
