St Anne's College

University of Oxford

Why choose St Anne's?

Scholarships, Bursaries and Internships

St Anne’s offers a number of generous Graduate Scholarships, Graduate Development Scholarships and Travel and Conference Grants.  It also offers a number of linked awards in collaboration with University departments. The College awarded 25 new graduate scholarships and bursaries in addition to 10 scholarships which were renewed, totalling £85,997, in the academic year 2012/13. These included nine much-prized Graduate Development Scholarships and Graduate Teaching Bursaries.  These were awarded to both first-year graduate students and to those moving on to doctoral research.

Centenary Scholarships and Bursaries

St Anne’s students who continue at St Anne’s as full-time students registered for a postgraduate degree are automatically awarded either a Centenary Scholarship or a Centenary Bursary. A Centenary Scholarship has a value of £1,000 and is awarded to those St Anne’s students who obtained either a First Class degree or a Distinction on a taught Masters programme.  Otherwise, a Centenary Bursary (£500) is awarded.

Bursaries for Clinical Medicine and Graduate-Entry Medicine

St Anne’s Pre-Clinical Medics who choose to stay on at St Anne’s for their clinical years, and also Graduate-Entry Medicine students are awarded a bursary of £850 for one year only. It is intended to be used to help with the purchase of any necessary equipment required for the course.

Internships

Landesbank Berlin AG (LBB)is a minimum of two months working in Berlin  within the strategic business area. The internship is open to students in all disciplines, but a good command of the German language is needed. For a taste of what this internship might involve, have a look at the report from one of the students who went in 2010. Current graduate students will be invited to apply in Hilary Term 2014.

A Year in Japan: a year in Japan with return air fare, accommodation and daily Japanese language tuition provided. This internship is open to undergraduates and postgraduates in their final year. The deadline for 2012-13 for A Year in Japan is now closed.

Graduate Scholarships available for 2013

(list accurate as of February 2013).

The College will offer c. 16 Graduate Scholarships to start in 2013/14, with 7 reserved for graduate fresher applicants. Applicants for one-year courses are not eligible unless indicated below, or if the course is intended as preparation for a D Phil degree.

All eligible graduate students who are on course at St Anne’s in 2012-13 or who have accepted a place at St Anne’s to start in 2013, may apply for a scholarship. New students holding offers should nominate St Anne’s as their first College choice in their application, where possible.

As ever, all Graduate Scholarships are awarded on the basis of proven academic excellence. To this end, the references supporting new applications or for current students, from Supervisor/Director of Studies, are crucial, as are current reports on GSS.

Academic Excellence:

Demonstrates highly satisfactory academic progress through serious and consistent engagement with his/her current academic course of study;

Assumes responsibility for developing and monitoring his/her academic course of study;

Assumes responsibility for his/her own learning;

Demonstrates real aptitude and capacity for scholarly academic development.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS TO ALL SCHOLARSHIPS

For new applicants: The closing date for applications from new applicants to St Anne's College is Noon, on Friday 31 May 2013. Please indicate on your AC1 acceptance form if you wish to be considered for a Scholarsip.

For current Students: Applications from current students will be accepted until Noon, on Friday 28 June 2013. Students must solicit the academic references to support their applications; there will not be a request from College. You will appreciate that this reference will form an important part of your application, so it is vital that it arrives by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
