The scope of Biochemistry is expanding rapidly, with new developments in Molecular Biophysics and the advent of Bionanotechnology.

The College Library, already extensive in the biological and medical sciences, continues to be updated with recent texts and journals in this fast-changing area.

St Anne’s is situated close to the University Science Area, which houses the teaching laboratories and the Radcliffe Science Library.

Final-year research projects at the Part II level may be carried out in the Science Area, in the Departments of Biochemistry, Biophysics, Microbiology or Genetics, or in the Clinical Biochemistry Department in the John Radcliffe Hospital (door-to-door bus service).

Tuition in Biology, Physics or Mathematics is available for undergraduates who have not pursued them at an advanced level at school or college. Teaching is provided in College for most of the Biochemistry, Chemistry and Physiology required for the undergraduate course, and specialist teaching can be arranged within the University Departments of Biochemistry and Biophysics.

We look for candidates with a lively interest in the molecular sciences, who are interested in applying the rigorous disciplines of Chemistry and Physics to the special challenge offered by complex and evolving living systems.
