Accommodation and College Life

Accommodation

Visiting Students live on the main College site with St Anne’s undergraduates, moments from other College facilities such as libraries, the dining hall and JCR. Currently visiting students are accommodated in single furnished rooms with individual private bathrooms. There are shared kitchens.

Accommodation is guaranteed to visiting students and available during the Oxford vacation (depending on your terms of study) at no additional cost. You may remain in college during the vacations, or leave your belongings in your room and come and go as you wish.

Dining at college

The Dining Hall is a focal point of college life and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays and brunch at weekends. As college subsidises the cost of food meals are relatively inexpensive. Most meals are self-service and informal, costing approximately £3-5 for lunch or dinner.

At the start of each term your Bod Card (University ID card) is loaded with £185 of meal credit, which can then be used to buy food in dining hall and at STACS (the St Anne’s Coffee Shop).

Formal dinners, known as formal halls, are held regularly throughout the term and are an opportunity to enjoy a three course meal and wine.

College life

Visiting students become members of the Junior Common Room (JCR) a form of student self-governance and a physical meeting place in college for undergraduates. JCR representatives lead on various college clubs, societies and college sport.

We recommend visiting students engage in at least one extra-curricular activity while at St Anne’s. Extra-curricular activities offer an opportunity to explore areas beyond your studies and to develop new friendships. Netball has become particularly popular with visiting students, and you might also like to try rowing, or join one of the many varied University clubs and societies.
