Hi guys, I’m Hoyeon, studying PPE, and I’ll be your treasurer next year 🙂 I was born in Gangnam, Korea, and moved to the UK when I was 6. Since then I’ve moved house more times than I can count, and our latest stop is South London (ish). You won’t need to think about me for the first few weeks - but once you’re helping run a society, or need money back for something you’ve paid on college’s behalf, just contact me or use a form that I will be sending round!
Hi I’m Flo, an experimental psychologist from Surrey! I’ll be one of your welfare reps this year, so please feel free to come and talk to be about whatever’s on your mind, whether that’s through the welfare email, over text or in person. You’ll be to find me having lunch in STACS, dancing at a Boogaloo club night or walking through uni parks (all great for personal welfare), but most likely you’ll see me glued to a textbook at Hartland House (less ideal for personal welfare). You'll probably find me in the new library, on the netball court, or in the gym! I’m studying psychology and philosophy and I’m from Cambridgeshire. I’m one of three welfare reps here at St Anne’s which means I’ll be working alongside Flo and Sai to make sure that welfare events run smoothly such as the weekly welfare tea for example! Oxford can definitely be a culture shock depending on where you’ve come from, especially if you belong to an ethnic minority. If you feel like you’re underrepresented, want to get involved in cultural events and societies, or aren’t tryna trek back home for a trim (yes, there ARE ethnic barbers in oxford, they’re just shy)
Hello, my name is Olly and I am your access rep this year. Access rep is concerned with anything that may disadvantage a group of people which has not already been delegated a seperate representative. I am a second year biology student so you will see me at many science events, JCR events and just generally around the college/city. Why you might want to seek me out to have a chat is really dependent on your personal circumstances. Whatever the problem or worry is however I am always a friendly face and unjudgemental listener if you think that might help. A common issue that access rep covers is worrying about fitting in or belonging due to your upbringing whether that be due to coming from state school, the money your parents or gardians earn, first generation uni or Oxbridge students, estranged students, and students who come from under represented areas among others. The baseline is if you want to talk about a worry and there is not a separate delegated rep for that area I am here to help.
