Academic background

Marlene obtained a BA and MA in Comparative Literature and completed a teacher training programme in Russian and German at the University of Vienna. During her university years, Marlene worked as a secondary school teacher for German in Austria, for Russian in Russia, and as a librarian in both countries.

As Fulbright Teaching Assistant at Emory University in Atlanta, Marlene began teaching at university level. She first came to the UK to join the University of Kent, followed by three years at King’s College London, whilst completing an internship at the Austrian Embassy to Moldova and obtaining a postgraduate diploma for German Language Teaching in International Higher Education

Teaching

Undergraduate: Marlene teaches German for undergraduate students at St Anne’s, St Hugh’s, Lady Margaret Hall, New College and Worcester. Her teaching focuses on the Austrian approaches to life and culture.
