My research develops innovative ways to use spectroscopy and light-matter interaction to investigate a wide range of cutting-edge device materials, from novel semiconductor and dielectric interfaces to magnetic and superconductive thin films, by which applications such as low power electronics, high performance memory devices and neuromorphic computing can directly benefit. We develop the ultra-concentration of light trapped inside nanocavities into an innovative fast methodology for studying real-time movement of individual atoms that underpins new generation of devices. To date, I have raised > £4.5 million in research funding as independent Principal Investigator (P.I.) from diverse sources, including a European Research Council Starting Grant (PlasmoFED – ERC-StG-2021). I have successfully supervised 5 PhD students, 2 to completion, and my research group has won awards for their research at both national and international levels.
