Hunt, Dr Holly

Academic background

After her BA in Literae Humaniores (Classics), Holly stayed on at Balliol College for her MSt in Greek and/or Latin Language and Literature. She completed her DPhil project in Classical Languages and Literature, a reading of the Aristophanic parabasis through the lens of humour and cognitive theory, at St Anne’s, where she held a Graduate Development Scholarship.

Teaching

Undergraduate: Literae Humaniores (Classics)

Holly teaches Greek and Latin language to students on the Classics and joint honours courses.

Research interests

Holly’s research is concerned with Old Comedy, politically engaged comedy plays of the 5th and early 4th century BCE. She is interested in humour theory, and cognitive approaches to reading ancient literature more generally.
