We are delighted to announce that St Anne’s Fellow, Professor Alan Cocks, has been made a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
The Academy notes:
Alan Cocks is an international leader in materials engineering who has made seminal and lasting contributions to understanding the performance of components and systems under extreme loadings. His work has had profound influence in the aero-engine, power generation and powder processing industries, leading to transformations in design, safety and pollution reduction.
His scientific contributions have provided deep insight into the deformation and failure mechanisms of materials at elevated temperature and into the improved design of processes for engineering manufacture. He has advised industry and independent policy boards over many years influencing aerospace and power generation in the UK and worldwide.
