St Anne’s Tutorial Fellow in Chemistry, Professor Volker Deringer, Wins Prestigious Harrison-Mendola Memorial Prize from the Royal Society of Chemistry

We are proud to share the news that Tutorial Fellow in Chemistry, Professor Volker Deringer, has been awarded the prestigious Harrison-Mendola Memorial Prize 2022 by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The Harrison-Meldola Memorial Prizes are awarded for the most meritorious and promising original investigations in chemistry and published results of those investigations. Awardees are early career scientists, typically with no more than 10 years of full-time equivalent professional experience, and awards are made by the RSC Prize Committee. Winners receive £5,000, a medal and a certificate, and will go on to complete a UK lecture tour.

Professor Deringer’s award was given for “innovative contributions to the modelling and understanding of amorphous materials”. On his award, Professor Deringer remarked, “Computer simulations of materials have made enormous strides over the last years, and I am excited to see what impact they will have on chemistry in the years ahead.”
