About the Residential
In 2024, St Anne’s once again hosted, alongside Trinity and Christ Church Colleges, and with support from Lincoln College, our annual North East Residential.
We are delighted to provide an opportunity for state school students from the North East of England to not only attend Oxford’s Summer Open Days for free, but also to provide support during their visit for them to explore the city and make the most out of the visit.
Between the four colleges, we were able to provide this opportunity to 120 students from 30 state schools and colleges across the region. All meals, accommodation and travel to and from the Residential were provided free of charge.
As part of the event, students attended application workshops and a planning session to help them make the most of their time in Oxford. They were able to access the full day of Open Day activities on Wednesday 26th June, before departing on Thursday 27th June.
The students were also supported by Ambassadors from all four colleges, including current students at Oxford representing the North East of England.
Following the residential, 96% agreed or strongly agreed that they understood what life at an Oxford college would be like, and 79% of participants strongly agreed or agreed that they would be applying to Oxford in the future (with 17% still deciding).
Applications
Applications for the 2025 residential will open in Spring 2025 and will be advertised on our mailing list, social media platforms and website.
Spaces are limited and applications will be assessed against academic criteria, and take into account whether one or more of the following apply to you:
- Your IMD score is 1 or 2.
- Your ACORN postcode score is 4 or 5
- You have been eligible for free school meals
- Neither of your parents went to University
- You are from an ethnic minority background that is underrepresented at Oxford
- You have been, or currently are, in care
- You are a young carer
Applications this year will open on March 24th. This form will be available to complete once applications open.
