External Visitors and Alumnae

External Visitors

The Library is for the use of members and associates of St Anne’s College only, and we do not lend material to members of other colleges. Members of the University and other external visitors may be admitted, with an appointment, to consult our collections on a reference-only basis, where we hold the only copy in Oxford. Possession of a Bodleian Reader Card does not grant access to St Anne’s College Library.

Please contact us to arrange an appointment with details of the book you wish to consult. Access is granted at the discretion of the Librarian, and we may not be able to provide this at short notice.

Alumnae

All St Anne’s alumnae are welcome to use the College Library for reference by arrangement with Library staff, though we ask those who have moved on to a new course at another college to make use of their own college library, the Bodleian, or the faculty libraries while they are still members of the University.

Please contact us to let us know the first time that you will be visiting, so we can give you a brief induction to the space, which may have changed since you were a student here. When you arrive, you will need to show your status as an alumna of St Annes to the porters at the Lodge. The best way to do this is to apply for a MyOxford card. The porters will then sign out an Alumnae Visitors card to you, which should be returned when you leave at the end of the day.

Any alumnae who simply want to look around the Library and reminisce are welcome to visit by signing out a fob in the same way. There is no need to tell us of your coming, but it is always nice to meet former students.

You may also apply for a Bodleian Reader Card, which will give you access to the Bodleian Libraries, some of which may only be open to you during Vacation. Please visit their webpages for more details.
