St Anne's College Library is open to all members and associates of St Anne's College. It is one of the largest college libraries in Oxford in terms of current stock, containing over 100,000 volumes and periodicals. With the original Library located in Hartland House and the New Library and Academic Centre opened in 2017, we have work places to suit all tastes.
Around 2,000 new books are added each year. There are strong collections in all subjects offered at the College, and some special strengths, unusual in a College library, for instance in Linguistics, Chinese, Education and modern fiction.
Officers of the JCR and MCR sit on Academic Committee, which discusses Library matters at its twice-termly meetings.
Both libraries are open at all times for College members to study and borrow books. The only exception is the College closed period at Christmas / New Year, when all College buildings are likely to be locked. The Library operates on a self-service basis, but Library staff will be present as follows:
Monday – Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. ; 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Hartland House & New Library)
6 p.m. - 8 p.m. (New Library)
Thursday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. ; 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Hartland House & New Library)
5 p.m. - 6 p.m. (New Library, unless otherwise stated)
If we are not at the Library staff desks we may be in our offices. Clare's office is on the first floor of Hartland House, opposite the Geldart Room. Sally's office is on the ground floor of the New Library & Academic Centre. Come and find us if you need help!
Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. ; 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
If you are visiting us during the vacation please let us know you are coming in advance so we can arrange to meet you and let you in as both libraries operate by fob access.
Entry at all times is by key fob. Guidance on using the Library outside staffed hours and advice about personal safety can be found on the Library notice boards. Please be aware that all Library rules and arrangements for borrowing books apply whether Library staff are present or not: these generous opening hours depend on your responsible co-operation and good behaviour in the Library.
