Dr Ulrik Lyngs
Smartphones and computers are essential for us to study, socialise, and connect to the outside world. But they can also be a source of endless distraction that undermine our capacity to focus and lead to long stretches of unproductive or unrewarding time. In this talk, Dr Ulrik Lyngs explores practical and effective ways to redesign digital devices to take back control of our time and attention. These range from blocking tools that can create ‘digital working hours’
where social media apps aren’t available, to browser extensions that can change distracting websites in any way you want. Ulrik’s talk is based on a decade of research and practical
data collected from the ‘Reduce Digital Distraction’ Project.
