Marco Gay

Stipendiary Lecturer in Classics

Academic background

After spending five years in Pavia as a student of the Collegio Ghislieri, obtaining a BA and an MA in Classics from the University of Pavia and a BA diploma and an MA diploma in Humanities from the School for Advanced Studies (IUSS) of Pavia, Marco Gay moved to the University of St Andrews to study for a PhD in Classics. Before joining St Anne’s, he worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Teaching Fellow and Lecturer at the University of St Andrews, where he contributed to modules in Ancient Greek, Latin and Classical Studies.

Teaching

Undergraduate: Literae Humaniores (Classics); Classics and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies; Classics and English; Classics and Modern Languages.

Research interests

Greek and Latin literary exegesis, theories of fiction and literary criticism; the Virgilian exegetical tradition; Latin poetry; Classical reception.
