If you will be in and around on Oxford on Saturday, you may be interested to know that a St Anne’s student, Miles Weatherseed, will be taking part in the Iffley Festival of Miles, an event organised by St Anne’s JCR member, Tom Barrett, among others.
Miles will be aiming to run a four-minute mile at 6.30pm.
About the event, Tom says:
“We are hoping that a lots of students from around Oxford will come and support the event, just like in 1954 when thousands of students watched Roger Bannister become the first man in history to break 4 minutes for the mile. It would be great to have as many spectators as possible for what may turn out to be a historic day.”
The timeline is:
Saturday 4th June (Iffley Road athletics track)
Women’s elite mile – 6pm
Men’s elite mile (featuring Miles Weatherseed)- 6:30pm
Free entry for spectators.
Miles and the other runners would undoubtedly be delighted to see supporters there.
