St Anne’s Tutor and Fellow in Law, Prof. Antonia Layard, and Supernumerary Fellow in Geography, Prof Tim Schwanen, made Fellows of the Academy of Social Sciences

We’re pleased to share the news that, following a recent nominations process, the Award of Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) has been conferred on Professor Antonia Layard, St Anne’s Tutor and Fellow in Law, and on Professor Tim Schwanen, St Anne’s Supernumerary Fellow in Geography, for their contributions to social science.

Professor Layard takes up her new role at St Anne’s this term, having previously been Professor of Law at Bristol. She is Vice-chair of the Socio-Legal Studies Association (2019-), is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Law, Property and Society and was on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Law and Society (2010-2020). She is an academic member of the AHRC and the ESRC Peer Review Colleges.

Professor Tim Schwanen is director of the Transport Studies Unit. His research concentrates on the geographies of the everyday mobilities of people, goods and information. His work is international in outlook, interdisciplinary in scope, informed by the thinking in various sub-disciplines within Geography.
